Individuals with a Developmental
Disability
Caring for a son, daughter, or sibling with a developmental
disability can be very rewarding but also stressful. This stress can be increased by the long waiting lists for state funded services and constant budget cuts for ongoing services.
Midwest Care Management Services can assist by:
- Researching and applying for benefits
- Working with community providers to find services such as respite providers
- Developing and implementing transition plans for when an individual leaves services provided by a school or is
ready to move from his or her home to a community supported placement
- Attending Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and advocating for additional
services
- Setting up supplemental services
- Assisting in finding medical professionals and specialists
- Accompanying individuals to appointments and advocating for their needs
